Let the medical bills continue.....

So we were over at some friend's house last night for dinner. Kids were outside playing. Daniel came running inside screaming! He had fallen and his knee was scraped up and his hand hurt. So we did the bandaid thing on the knee and after a few minutes he was off. Well he came back inside and said his hand hurt. Looking at the meaty part of his palm, by his thumb, it was swollen,hard and hot! So off we head to the hospital's ER. 1 1/2 hours later (we were SHOCKED it was that quick!) we walked out of there with this:

He fractured the thumb bone on his right hand. So it's in a splint right now. The radiologist will have his report done later this week to confirm (or deny) it. Apparently their bones have not calcified yet. They are still cartilidge. So it's harder ot see a break. But the ER was 90% positive. It was interesting to see the X-rays because not all of their wrist bones are even developed and he is 4 1/2! Anyhow, poor little guy had labs this morning, too. So we are kindof done with the hospital! But he wanted to have a picture of his airplane he got there.

On a funny note, when we were waiting in teh ER room last night I said to Daniel, "So what hand are you going to scratch your head?"
Daniel: "this hand" (not broken one)
Mom: "So what hand are you going to pick your nose with?"
Daniel" "this hand" (again, not broken one)
Mom: "So what hand are you going to wipe your bum?"
Without hesitating he points to my hand and says, "That hand!"

This morning already proved that true! When I was done pulling up his shorts (I never thought of his limitedness....of that is a word) he said, "Good boy, mom!" Funny boy!

Two Years ago......

So first of all, check out the www.lpch.org website. Daniel and I are on the front page! Daniel said, "I love that picture because you are hugging me." It was cute.

Second, it was 2 years ago that Daniel had his transplant. I think this day will always be a very emotional day for me. My heart swells at our dear donor, Kelle. Started out a stranger and soon became implanted in our hearts forever. What a selfless gift she gave our family and Daniel.

I think of all the people who helped our family either financially or physically or spiritually. Prayers and hopes were answered and continue to be so. He has responded so well to his meds he has the 3 that he will be on for the rest of his life. He is heavier and taller than his twin. He eats like a horse and plays like a 4 year old....hard and long!

What a blessing that experience was! Wouldn't want to live it again! But I am grateful for the blessings we received! And continue to received. We love you Kelle! We love you Daniel!

Bryce's doctor's appt

So yesterday I took Bryce to see the orthopedic doctor. Everything is fine! He is just majorly flat footed. See how his leg bones go into the inside of his feet?

So the doctor had him go up on his tip toes and look how normal they look.

He said that is a little test to make sure all the hardward is there and working: tendons, muscles, etc. So we head back this morning to Reno to get him fitted for arches. I didn't realize that arches were prothestics! And just when we were getting close (just over $3000) to paying off medical bills! Oh well! Anyhow, the dotctor said they will eventually opereate to permanently correct the feet, but they don't like to do it when they are this young.

Apparently when you buy from a private party you don't have to pay taxes....vehicle or RV! YAY! I'll remember that for future car purchaes!

Kevin's b-day and 1st day of school

So here is my kid's newest favorite breakfast. Parfaits. Remember those as a kid? Cups at thrift store.....TONS of fun!

Kevin celebrated his 39th birthday! WOW he is getting old! (I am in October!)

His BYU shirt and sweatshirt didnt' get there in time, so he is holding pictures of them.

Instead of cake we did chocolate fondue! Can't go wrong with that! Melissa and Travs came and joined us for prime rib dinner and fondue!



So yesterday (wednesday) was the first day of school for the kids. It never ceases to amaze me that I still cry the first day! I remember 5 years ago crying when I took Ryan to kindergarden with at 4,3,2 & new born twins. I was crying because he was my first and because I wished more were going! JK! Anyhow, here they are..

Ryan - 5th Grade - 10 years old

Comptyn - 4th grade - 9 years old

Bryce - 3rd grade - 8 years old

Nathan - 1st grade - 6 years old - ALL DAY SCHOOL!

Daniel - 4 1/2 years old - staying home with mom....but since every one else got a picture.....

When the kids got home from school we were sitting in the living room and they were eating otter pops and things. They all were literally laying around. NONE of the school boyz were supporting their heads. I just started laughing. Then Nathan said, "MOM! I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOO TIRED!" Bryce, " AND HUNGRY!" Needless to say they went to bed great last night!

Last Hoo-Rah's of Summer - Family Reunion

After Andrea's wedding we went to Winnemucca for a family reunion. This is my other new little nephew, Dean. Aren't his eyes adorable? He just looks at you with those big ole eyes and it's SO CUTE!

This is our dinner in the church gym. 4 tables end to end and 2 wide! We got everyone around it! YUMMY FOOD!

I am totally drawing a blank of the name of this game! It's an icelandic game, if I remember right. It's a lot of fun. Daniel had my camera at this point. So he did a pretty good job!

Of course there had to be a game of basketball. We had volleyball, kick ball and games played, too! LOTS of fun!

This was at g-pa and g-ma's house. Notice Aunt Beth Anne by the door (AND light switch) and then Daniel. He was 'magic' and would wave his hands at the lights and they would go on and off. It was SO funny! We did this for about a good 15 minutes! Daniel still thinks he is magic.....but only at g-pa and g-ma's house because it doesn't work at our house!

FINALLY!

This young man was Gustav's witness in the temple. He is going to be a freshman at BYU this fall and playing football. The twins were REALLY excited to get their picture taken with a REAL BYU football cougar! We can't wait to watch some football and hopefully see him play. Can't remember his name. Las name has lots of P's in it!
